Course Objectives:

  • To encourage students to appreciate the recent scientific contributions validating the inner lives of animals.

  • To be able to bridge the rigors of science with the open-mindedness of truth-seekers and thought explorers.

  • To create an understanding of the deeper connections between humans and animals, historically, in the present, and for the future.

  • To explore ethical issues regarding animal welfare in a variety of contexts.

  • To appreciate the human-animal bond for the benefit of every species.

  • To appreciate both the differences in human/animal communication and to explore the possibilities of connection.

  • To encourage students to make meaningful contributions to current knowledge in the field of human-animal connection, cognition, communication, and consciousness.

  • To appreciate the unity of all life, and of consciousness, and to act accordingly.

 

 

  • Have a deeper understanding of the Human-Animal Bond.

  • Have a basic understanding of the state of the science of animal consciousness.

  • Be able to understand the specific role of therapy animals, service dogs, medical alert dogs, working dogs, and how to provide for the well-being of animals.

  • To form their own opinions, based on research.

  • To make contributions to the body of thought in the field of animal consciousness.

  • Act in accordance with their understanding of the inner lives and needs of animals.

  • Volunteer to work with other like-minded organizations for animal welfare.

  • Seek to educate others regarding the impact of the knowledge acquired in this program.

  • Have more meaningful connections and interactions with animals.

As a result of taking this course students will:
